What You Need to Know
The Black Horse Run (BHR) Racers is a summer league recreational swim team for swimmers ages 4-18. We fill our roster first with BHR residents and if space is available, which it normally is, we allow non-residents to join as well. Participating on the swim team is not only a great way for children to improve their swimming skill, but a great place to make new friends and pass some of the summer away.
Eligibility
All children must be at least 4 years of age and be able to swim independently in the water. Developmental swimmers, swimmers that cannot swim the length of the pool on their own yet, will NOT be allowed this year due to COVID restrictions. Swim team participation is not a substitution for swim lessons. They will learn strokes but should be comfortable in the water before starting and must be able to swim one length of the pool independently.
Registration
2021 registration begins on April 12th and will close April 29th. Register for the BHR team by filling out the GoogleForm - https://forms.gle/Y8XgM88QcAJuCUgM6.
The BHR resident rate is $115 for the first child; each additional sibling is $105. BHR HOA dues must be paid in order for BHR residents to register swimmers for the team! Non-resident rate is $135 for the first child, each additional sibling is $125.
Swimmer registration includes a t-shirt, swim cap and team picture for each participant.
Additional t-shirts are available for an additional cost. We will not require team suits for 2021 due to virtual meets.
Practices and Meets
Check out meet and practice schedules on the website. Meet participation is mandatory to participate on the team. We know you may not be able to be at them all but we sure hope you will try.
Non-resident members are allowed at the BHR swim pool during BHR Racer practices, meets, special events and if invited by a BHR resident only.
Parent Responsibilities
IMPORTANT DATE: There will be a meet-and-greet zoom Sunday, May 2nd at 5:00pm. We will have new information to pass along so we would like all families, old and new, to plan on attending. More details will follow soon but save the date.
Every parent MUST volunteer their time and effort (i.e. by bringing concession stand donations and helping to run concessions, other volunteer roles at the swim meets- more information will be given during the potluck). It takes a lot of parents to pull off a swim meet- even a virtual one.
We strongly encourage all parents to attend one DSSL training session so that we can have enough officials at our swim meets. Dates and locations of the training sessions will be coming soon!
We are looking forward to a great season! GO BHR RACERS!
